Walk 100 m down Northland Road from the bus terminus and turn into Military Road (not shown). This soon turns into a walking track to Garden Road. Once the track enters bush glowworms can be seen on the banks.

Duck Ponds

Covers 26 hectares and extends from Anderson Park off Tinakori Road through to the Cable Car Terminal and Glen Road in Kelburn. Includes a children’s play area, duckpond, the Lady Norwood Rose Garden, The Begonia House, sound shell, native bush, and a stunning collection of plants and trees from around the world.

A distinctive pole and timber construction, the centre is a joint venture between the Garden and WWF-NZ. Houses an information desk, shop, exhibition area, audio-visual show, and children’s art. Open weekdays 9am-4pm and weekends 10am-4pm. Address: The Treehouse, Botanic Gardens, Wellington City

 Our renowned Cable Car runs from Lambton Quay to Upland Road, a rise of 120 metres. The 610 metre long track, opened in 1902, runs through 3 tunnels. Cars run every 10 minutes from 7am–10pm Mon–Fri and 9am–10pm weekends and public holidays. Phone: 472 2199 Fax: 472 2200
